Why Protein Balls Beat Protein Bars
Store-bought protein bars are often loaded with sugar alcohols, artificial sweeteners, and ingredients you cannot pronounce. These homemade protein balls use real food — oats, nut butter, honey, and protein powder — with no preservatives. Plus, you can customize them to match your exact macro goals.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 scoops chocolate protein powder
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Combine oats, protein powder, flaxseed, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract. Mix until a thick dough forms.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- If mixture is too dry, add 1 tablespoon of milk. If too wet, add more oats.
- Roll into 12 equal-sized balls (about 1.5 inches each).
- Place on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
